Update from American Samoa

No photos is in this blog I'm afraid and I think we will have to wait till New Zealand for that and we will deal properly with our time in Tahiti, Moorea, Raiatea, Tahaa, Bora Bora and Suwarrow.

We are currently in American Samoa where we had some items delivered.  The people here are friendly and helpful but it is by no means a tourist destination. There is only one harbour in Samoa and it is very commercial as you might expect.  Tuna fishing is the main industry and there is a huge canning plant on the far side of the harbour.  Huge trawlers unlike any I've seen before line the docks - they are very much built for speed.

We've been in Pago Pago, the capital, for about a week.  Our first chore was finding a laundromat and did 3 huge (for us) loads, both washing and drying for under $10.  There are small shops in town and  a few big supermarkets which you can get to by bus.  The buses are very reasonable and very brightly painted but you do have to suffer the incredibly load music they play.  After spending our first return journey with my fingers in my ears, I found the earplugs I bought for the Carnival 2013 in Trinidad and will use them for future journeys.

We were planning to leave AM for Samoa early next week but friends are due to arrive who have had some rigging issue and are coming for repairs. We hope to be able to help them figure out how and where to get things done here.
